Terms and Conditions for Rental
Normal terms and conditions of rental apply at all times, a copy will be produced at time of rental or sent if requested. All rates include VAT & insurance and are subject to availability. Despite the purchase of insurance an excess will be charged for any vehicle damage. Insurance cover is for UK mainland only unless clearance is granted prior to rental. Rates include breakdown recovery.
Driving Restrictions
Vehicles should be returned to the renting location. Vehicles must not be taken outside mainland England Scotland and Wales unless agreed with Avon Auto Sales beforehand and the relevant documentation required issued to the renter/driver. You must inform Avon Auto Sales at the time of reservation if you intend to drive out of the country of vehicle rental.
Drivers
Drivers must be aged between 23 & 75 years and possess a full category British driving licence for the type of vehicle rented. Drivers aged 21-23 may be accepted for a limited range of vehicles subject to availability and a Young Drivers supplement. Drivers between the age of 75 & 80 may be arranged subject to a supplement. Overseas visitors must produce a valid domestic driving licence or an international driving permit accompanied by a passport. Drivers are required to have held a full, clean driving licence for a minimum of 12 months and have a clear insurance record. Certain endorsed licences may be accepted, please contact branch for details. No person other than the renter or approved additional driver/drivers are permitted to drive the vehicle rented. Seatbelts must be worn at all times as required by law.
Driving Licence
Customers must have held a full driving licence for a minimum of 12 months (24 months if under 23) The Company normally accepts endorsements up to 6 points on minor traffic offences such as speeding. This licence must be presented on the day of hire. If the Customer has a new photo card licence, the paper counterpart will also need to be presented. In the event that a licence is not presentable, it is possible for the Company to call DVLA within their working hours to confirm details. A £5 charge will be payable at the time of calling to cover charges made by DVLA. Where an 'old style' licence is presented then a form of photographic identification (e.g. passport ) will be required. An international driving licence issued outside of the UK is required for any driver whose licence is of non-roman alphabet (e.g. Japanese, Arabic or Greek alphabet )
The new UK licences are made up of two parts, the counterpart and ID card. Both parts much be produced at time of rental.
European Union Licences are valid in the UK, up to expiry date. Foreign Licences are valid for up to 12 months from the date of entry into the UK. After that period a British Licence Must be applied for.
International Driving Permits are valid for 12 months.
International Driving Permits Issued in the UK are not valid.
The driver must be licensed to drive the vehicle hired, with particular regard to people carriers and minibuses (UK licence group D or D1). Drivers with Automatic only licences cannot drive vehicles with manual transmission.
Any endorsements, motoring offences or restrictions (medical or otherwise) should be declared at the time of reservation as this may affect your booking.
Car Rental
Minimum rental period is 1 day. Mileage allowance: 150 miles per day, Weekend rental (Fri 5.00pm to Mon 8.00am) - 500 miles. Mileage excess: Economy & Compact groups- 5p per mile / Midsize to Family Plus - 7p per mile / Executive and People Carriers - 10p per mile.
Vans Rental
Minimum rental period is 4 hours subject to availability. **4 Hour and Evening rentals incur per mile fuel charge. Mileage allowance: 1 Day plus - 250 miles per day. Mileage excess: Economy & Group A - 10p per mile / Group B - 12p per mile /These vehicles cannot be taken on a one-way rental.
Rental Extensions
Subject to availability rentals may be extended by contacting the rental office and arranging an extension during time of original rental. Failure to do so will result in the vehicle being uninsured.
Vehicle Availability
To avoid disappointment vehicles should be booked in advance. Models shown and all descriptions are for general guidance only and while every effort is made to comply with requirements we cannot guarantee a specific model. Please note that automatic and estate vehicles will incur an additional charge. Avon autosales reserve the right to refuse rental and to cancel bookings due to inclement weather and operational problems out of their control. Avon autosales also reserve the right to change terms and conditions without notice.
No Smoking Policy Avon autosales Car and Van Rental run a no smoking policy on all rental vehicles and reserve the right to charge a fixed £50 valeting fee on return of the vehicle if the hirer has smoked or allowed smoking within the vehicle. This includes allowing cigarette smoke or ash into the car even if the car is not smoked in.
Fuel
Avon autosales Car and Van Rental run a Full to Full fuel policy. If the vehicle is received with less than a full tank, then this must be marked on the damage check sheet by a member of staff before the vehicle has been driven. The vehicle must then be returned with the same amount of fuel as received. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, as stated on the damage check sheet, we charge a £4.75 + VAT refuelling charge plus per litre prices. These prices are advertised in our office.
Misfuelling is not only an expensive mistake, it can delay your journey considerably:
A large proportion of vans use diesel along with an increasing number of cars. Putting petrol into a diesel engine or diesel into a petrol engine, causes severe damage for which you would be liable.
Rates
Rates are subject to change and availability. Rates featured are for guidance only; your rental rate will be confirmed and guaranteed at time of reservation Vehicle Types
The models illustrated on represent the main models available and are shown for guidance only. Vehicle types and models may vary and Avon Autosales Car/Van Rental reserves the right to substitute an alternative similar or larger model when the vehicle reserved is not available.
Rental Period
Rental days are based on 24 hour periods starting at the time the vehicle is collected. Late returns will be subject to additional charge. If you need to extend your rental you must obtain authorisation from the rental location before the agreed expiry date. Additional days will be charged at the original rate. Vehicles must be returned within branch opening hours any damage to vehicles left outside of working hours will be charged for irresponsive of blame.
Cancellations / No Shows
Avon autosales Car and Van Rental reserves the right to charge 100% of the reservation as a cancellation fee for late cancellations or no shows. Late cancellations are within 72 hours of the hire start time agreed at the time of the reservation. Avon autosales Car and Van Rental reserve the right to increase the cancellation time period at the time of the reservation with notice.
Bank Holidays (England), Christmas and Easter rentals have a minimum 1 week cancelation period. Any cancellations within 1 week of the agreed rental start time (at the time of the reservation) will be charged a cancellation charge.
Tyres and upholstery
The hirer is responsible for the cost of repairing punctures, wheel damage and any interior damage. Charges will be made accordingly.
Windscreen damage
The hirer is responsible for any windscreen damage.
